I listen to a weekly radio show called Money Talk. Three hours. The show is hosted by a guy named Bob Brinker. www.bobbrinker.com/ My Dad listened to the show for years, back when it was on both Saturdays and Sundays. He would get irritated when it was preempted by sports. Now it is only on Sundays, and you can stream the broadcast on the Internet, so sports aren't a problem. In recent months Bob has started taking guests on the show in the last hour. Typically they are an author or a financial expert of some kind. Usually there is an interview and then he opens the phone lines and people can all in to address the guest directly.
Today the guest was an author named Tyler Cowen, an Economist from George Mason University, who has written a book called The Complacent Class: The Self-Defeating Quest for the American Dream.. The book suggests Americans in the 21st century are resistant to change, avoid risks and essentially lack some of the ambition of previous generations. Not one single caller picked up the phone to call and discuss the book. So I guess he is right?
